Liburan

I decided to take a week off and went to visit my Aunt in Surabaya. She runs an eating place called "Marica" in Waru-Sidoarjo, their special menu is fish, Gurami (Gurame) fish, whether it's fried or roasted (or is it grilled ?), mmmmmmmm yum yum ....

We took a train called "Bima", took 12 hours to get to Surabaya, stopped at Gubeng station. We arrived around 6 in the morning. After a brief rest, we all went to Batu - Malang, was great, the mountains and hills. Malang is well-known for their apples, green apples, taste sooooo sweeett..

On our way back, there was a traffic, so we stopped by at this hotel for a while, just to avoid the traffic. The hotel was old, was a Dutch remains. It's a five stories building, but only 3 stories are used (operated), rumor has it, the 4th and the 5th floors are haunted.

The next day, my uncle decided to take us to Bali, for only a day. Was a long exhausted trip. But it was worth it, unfortunately, when we got there, it was the Galungan day, so most of the shops are closed, no Angkot around as well, although we managed to get one, he said he is a Moslem, so he didnt take a day off on Galungan day. Went to Tanah Lot and Kuta beach, did some shopping then went back to Surabaya in the evening. Loved every moment of it.

We also went to see this old Indonesian submarine monument (Monumen Kapal Selam), too bad there was no one around to guide, to explained us about the ship. But it was cool, I got to know what's inside the submarine.

Mengenang 40 Hari Wafatnya Bapakku Sayang

I dont know where to start.

Some times, I still can't believe that he has really gone, forever ... Days, weeks has passed, and now, it is already the 40th days since he's gone.

I miss him
I miss you Pa' so much ..

He who had always be the light of my life, who loved me unconditionally, who made fun of me, fight (in a good way) with me, who taught me so many things, encouraged and supported me in everything I did.

I love you Pa'.

Mengenang 40 hari or commemorating the 40th day of the dead of someone close and loved for Muslims in Indonesia is a common thing, usually the grieving family held a prayer for the late, by this means that the family invite the neighbours or close friends and relatives reading the Quran - usually surah Yasin and pray for the late. The family will also provide some snacks or rice boxes to giveaway for the guests, along with the snacks and rice boxes is usually a souvenir, a Yasin book here we call it. The book consists of a few words to remember the late, list of the grieving main family (wife/husband, children, sometimes grandchildren), a thank you and asking for forgiveness from the family to all the relatives and friends on behalf of the late, and some useful prayers. Also, along with the book, when the family is capable to give some extra souvenir, then they will giveaway something useful as well - mostly for praying, such as sarong, tasbih or prayer rug.

Some say, the 40th day is the day the late would actually leave the house and move to the other side.
Whatever custom the world has, knowing that someone you loved has gone forever is the hardest thing. Hence, cherish the ones you still got now, love them like you might lose them tomorrow.

The Funeral is here.
